Night wanderings (2022)
July 2022, expansion work in the place where we live.
Within a few days, they pruned, sawed and cut down the entire row of wings across the road parallel to our house. 264 trees in our moshav were uprooted and cut down in those weeks. The noises of the saws, bulldozers and tractors stayed with me even after they finished.
Going out to take pictures felt like the only thing I could do.
I knew it wouldn't really change anything, the trees were gone, but I felt like I couldn't just stand by and do nothing.
At first, I started filming during the day, and slowly realized that I had to come back at night.
With a long exposure and a flashlight, I would illuminate and wake up the trees, and on my way I would also say goodbye.
This work was born from the gut, like something I had to do, for me and my family. To remember what really matters, in a renewed and busy world that loses every day a little more of the beauty, life and abundance in it.
